Harjot J is raised as young Punjabi woman from Calgary. She is going into her third year of university at the the University of Calgary for a Bachelors degree in Music and Education. Once she finishes schooling, she aspires to teach music and give vocal lessons to children, teens and young adults in tough financial situations. Harjot believes that no matter a person’s situation, they should always have opportunities to make it in the real world, whether that be in the arts or anything else. She is fluent in both English and Punjabi and knows how to speak a little bit of Hindi. She attended high school at Forest Lawn High School where she won the Marilyn Perkins award for her wonderful singing capabilities in her school choir. Some of her hobbies include playing the piano, and sketching. She found her passion for the arts in her junior high school years, it gave her a platform to express herself in a creative way, this passion for the arts has carried on to her adult years. Harjot has attended Martial Arts, at Yoon’s Martial Arts school in Calgary, for most of her life (ages 6-14) where she was awarded a 1st Dan Black Belt in the year 2011. She also went on to win two championship trophies in the Martial Art schools annual tournaments. Although Harjot is not able to help in big ways, she is passionate about helping out her community through small gestures. These gestures include donating money to charities, donating to food banks regularly, and donating clothes. When she was younger she would collect donations for UNICEF and donate some money herself to help out.
